Happy Holidays from EUSSET

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to take a moment to reflect on 2024. It has been a rewarding year for our community. Here are some highlights:

  • This year, Ina Wagner was awarded the IISI-EUSSET Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024 for outstanding contribution to the CSCW corpus of ethnographic studies and cases with a persistent focus on conceptualizing findings through comparative analysis and steadfast commitment to ethical and emancipatory dimensions of CSCW.
  • We were very lucky to have an inspiring ECSCW 2024 conference in beautiful Rimini, Italy. We would like to thank Catia Prandi, Luigi De Russis, the organizing committee, and every one of you for making the conference a success. Special congratulations also go to Asbjørn Malte Pedersen and Claus Bossen, winners of this year’s David B. Martin Best Paper Award for the paper “Cultivating Data Practices Across Boundaries: How Organizations Become Data-Driven.”
  • In August, we organized the 8th International Summer School on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work: Foundations, Methods, and Technologies in Vienna, Austria. Many thanks to Babak Farshchian, Kathleen Pine, Khuloud Abou Amsha, and all our great lecturers for making this summer school unforgettable for all the young researchers in our community. We had the opportunity to discuss the theses of 23 PhD students with us, who also learned about our approaches and concepts in order to widen their views.
  • This has been a particularly eventful year for the EUSSET steering committee. We started the year energetically with a productive retreat in Vienna, complemented by monthly online meetings, reinforcing our collaborative spirit, which was carried into 2025. We significantly updated our digital library and created working groups to serve the EUSSET community even better. By the way, do you know that ECSCW has changed its name to “EUSSET Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work”?

Finally, we would like to remind you of some exciting events to look forward to in 2025:

Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
